For the background I used some of my Stamping Sponges with So Saffron, Pacific Point and Blackberry Bliss inks and sponged diagonally on a half sheet of Whisper White Cardstock. I don't have the Rich Razzleberry Stampin' pad yet so I had to use Blackberry Bliss which is now retired, the Brights Classic Stampin' Pads are on my next order. I am waiting until 1st September to place my order because I love both of the new Hostess Stamp Sets in this years Autumn/Winter catalogue and my wish list/Christmas list is very, very long.
Where the Pacific Point and So Saffron overlapped the green wasn't as bright as I wanted so I went over it with some Emerald Envy ink. I used a sponge dauber and Night of Navy Ink to make some vertical lines over the background. Doing this muted some of the really bright colours but not all of them. I was worried this would spoil the background but I wouldn't know until I tried it. I really love this effect and I'm so pleased I did it.
I used Basic Black cardstock for the tree and die-cut it using my Big Shot. The Big Shot Die Brush is fantastic for removing the unwanted cut-outs. I removed some of the branches because the tree was too round and symmetrical. I didn't want to use anything that would overshadow the focal image so I went with Basic Black cardstock for the card base and frame. Because it was tone on tone I raised the frame with Stampin' Dimensionals.
