The Birthday Wishes Challenge Weekend

I've been waiting so long for today to come and I'm so excited it's finally here. "Why is today so exciting?" I hear you ask.  I am 1 of 6 U.K. demonstrators who are spending the day in London as VIP Guests at the Birthday Wishes Challenge kick-off event.  For me the best part of today is that the event is being held at Ronald McDonald Evelina House.

I feel so privileged being able to spend the day doing something to help the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) which is such a wonderful charity and doing something I love, making cards.

When we were told we had been chosen we were given a challenge to try to make 100 Birthday cards, yes 100 cards each and we were only allowed to use the Sharing Sweet Thoughts stamp set which is the new RMHC stamp set for 2017/18.

Sharing Sweet Thoughts Stamp Set

When we found out there wasn't a Birthday sentiment in the stamp set we were told we could use any Birthday sentiment we had.  I immediately thought of the beautiful font used in Birthday Blast so I designed 2 cards around this sentiment.  When I found out the stamp set was going to retire at the end of May the rebellious side of me came out and said "use it anyway".

Everything is already prepped for my 1st card.

To try to make as many cards as I can all the cards I've designed are quick and easy to make.  I have prepped as much as possible before hand so today will be a bit of stamping, some colouring and then adhering everything.  My Hubby is my carer and he will be staying with me all day so I've roped him into doing some of the colouring too.

Stampin' Up! are supplying Whisper White and Very Vanilla note cards and envelopes, adhesives, grid paper, bone folders and snips.  They also gave us a copy of the Sharing Sweet Thoughts stamp set last month. They are really spoiling us.

I have stamped and cut the Very Vanilla cardstock and cut 60 Basic Black matts.

The 3rd card I designed is using the Birthday sentiment from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.  I used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the branch inside the jar and to make it look like one of the butterflies was on the branch.  Everything I will need to make these cards has been pre-cut/die-cut for quickness.

On Monday we received todays itinerary and we're going to have lots of fun.  As the theme is 'Birthday' todays event is a Birthday Party with party decorations and music. There will be 4 Facebook Live videos today on the Stampin' Up! UK Birthday Wishes Challenge Facebook page.  The 1st video will be at 10.25 a.m.  There will be competitions and updates during the Facebook Live videos too. The last Facebook Live video will be at 3.50 p.m. where they will announce the total number of cards we have made today.  Paula Gorry, Lucy Jordan and the 6 demonstrators are aiming for 800.

During the event I will be posting lots of photo's and giving progress updates on my Facebook page Lady Dee's Craft Forum.  I would love it if you could leave comments and messages of encouragement.  I also have a 'guess the amount of cards made at todays event' competition on my Lady Dee's Craft Forum too.  The person with the closest guess will receive a surprise in the post.  The competition is open to everyone not just U.K. residents.

I'm off to have some fun at our Birthday Party.

Have yourself some crafting fun.

10,000 Card Challenge

In February Stampin' Up! asked their U.K. demonstrators to help make 10,000 cards, over 2 weekends in 2017, for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).  The Birthday Wishes Challenge is this weekend 23rd-25th June and the Christmas Cheer Challenge will be held on 1st-3rd December, 2017.  For more information on the Birthday Wishes Challenge, the 10,000 cards challenge and the Ronald McDonald House Charities please click here.

The products used to make todays project are listed below. If you would like to order any Stampin' Up! products click on an image and you will be directed to my online store.

Product List

*When designing a project or when I CASE a project I always use my cheap cardstock to make a prototype before making it with my Stampin' Up! cardstock.   I do check the measurements I add to my blog posts but when typing lots of measurements mistakes can be made.  When making any project I recommend making it first with cheap cardstock before using your best cardstock.*
