A Wonderful Weekend of Crafting

I hope you have had a great weekend.  I started writing this post last month but I haven't been well enough to finish it.  I wanted to share some of my photo's of the Birthday Wishes Challenge Kick-Off event I went to as a VIP guest on 23rd June and my little cardmaking event I held on 25th June.

I met so many lovely people while I was in London at the Ronald McDonald Evelina House. We all had so much fun making cards for the Birthday Wishes Challenge.

During the day we were given a party bag full of goodies and some mocktails (cocktails with no alcohol which was good because I'm allergic to alcohol).

At lunchtime we all sat outside in the sun having our lunch and chatting, the photo below was taken in the beautiful gardens.

We were all given a 'Birthday Wishes Challenge' t-shirt when we first arrived which was really nice and made us all feel special.

There was even a little table set up in case any of the children wanted to do some stamping and colouring.   Whilst we were there a dad came in with his young daughter so my husband Geoff showed her how to stamp an image and she loved it.  She coloured her stamped images and made a card for her mum.

While the little girl was colouring her dad was talking to Geoff about their premature baby, born at 28 weeks.  Geoff talked to him about what he went through when our son was born at 29 weeks and told him that our son is now 28, healthy and enjoying life.

Even the PR team from Stampin' Up! made good use of the table too.

At the event we were aiming to make 800 cards and we actually managed to finish 814 cards in approximately 4 1/2 hours.  I was absolutely exhausted by the end of the event but it was a fantastic day with an amazing group of ladies all doing something they love for such a worthwhile charity.

Birthday Wishes Challenge - 25th June, 2017

Two days after doing the kick-off event I had 2 ladies come to my cardmaking event. Helen and Sarah are really lovely, we all got on really well and we spent 4 hours crafting, chatting, eating home-made cakes made by Helen and drinking cuppa's.

I was having so much fun I forgot to take any photos of us making the cards.  Helen, Sarah and I made 11 cards for the Birthday Wishes Challenge which isn't a lot but we had so much fun making them and that's what counts.

The day after the event Helen left this lovely message for me on Facebook:

"Morning Dee thank you for a wonderful afternoon, it was great card making, chatting and cake the 3 Cs ...can't beat that...😊
It was fascinating to see how we was using the same things but came up with very different ideas...you will have to do a blog about our afternoon...housework for me today but maybe a little time for craft this afternoon...once again thank you."

Stampin' Up! set the challenge to make 10,000 cards for the Ronald McDonald House Charities over 2 cardmaking weekends.  They were hoping for 5,000 Birthday cards at the Birthday Wishes Challenge weekend and 5,000 Christmas cards to be made at the Christmas Cheer Challenge Weekend which will be held on 1st-3rd December, 2017.

9,493 cards were made during the Birthday Wishes Challenge weekend

I hope you have enjoyed seeing some of my photo's from the Birthday Wishes Challenge weekend.

Have yourself some crafting fun.
